The title ‘no trees north’ comes from something a tour guide said when visiting the DMZ (demilitarized zone) between South and North Korea. “When looking into North Korea, that is how you can tell where the border is, no trees north, lots of trees south”.  She explained that the reason for this is because North Korea doesn’t have as good an infrastructure as the South and they cut down all their trees for various reasons.
